Create a contact custom field

Contact custom fields are managed in Contacts. Open the Contacts sidebar’s Manage control, then select All Fields in the FIELDS section.

  1. In Contacts, choose Manage in the sidebar.
  2. Under FIELDS, open All Fields.
  3. Choose Add field.
  4. Enter the Field Name and choose a field type.
  5. For a Dropdown or Multi-select field, add at least one option. Multi-select permits more than one selected option; imports and integrations can optionally be allowed to add new dropdown options.
  6. Optionally add a description, then choose Create Field.

The available contact field types are Text, Number, Date, Dropdown, Multi-select, Currency, and Link. A field name must be unique among the existing contact custom fields.

The definition belongs to the organization, while each value belongs to an individual contact. After creating the definition, return to a contact’s Custom Fields card to set its value. You can also show configured custom fields as Contacts table columns and use them in the Contacts filter builder.

For a bulk update, select contacts and use More → Change field. That picker only presents dropdown custom fields that have configured options.
