Sending text messages

Send Text dialog showing the organization-texting prerequisite

Use the text composer to send a message to a contact or to reply in an existing conversation. A usable sender line and texting readiness are required before a message can be sent.

  1. Open a contact’s text action or an existing text conversation.
  2. Select the recipient and the mobile number to message.
  3. Review the From line. Goliath selects an eligible line using the organization’s reply policy and shows other eligible lines when you can choose one.
  4. Write the message and send it.

If the contact has prior messages on that line, the composer can show the conversation so you can reply in context.

Why a recipient or sender may be unavailable

Section titled “Why a recipient or sender may be unavailable”

Goliath does not let you send from a line that cannot send SMS. It can also omit a recipient number that is marked as SMS-suppressed. Select another eligible number or resolve the underlying setup issue instead of trying to bypass the message.

If organization texting is not ready, the composer displays Texting Not Available Yet with a Complete Twilio Setup action. Open the organization menu → Phone → Registration to review the managed A2P-registration path or connect your own Twilio account. Do not start registration until you have the required business information ready.

Organization administrators set Replies come from at the organization menu → Phone → Routing. This is the organization default used to choose a line; it can be refined by the recipient, conversation, and eligible lines available to the sender.

For managed US texting, check A2P state under the organization menu → Phone → Registration. For an organization-owned Twilio account, check its campaign and connected-number setup in the same panel.

Read A2P registration and texting compliance before troubleshooting a carrier-registration blocker.
