A2P registration and texting compliance

US application-to-person SMS requires carrier registration. Goliath presents the managed registration status at the organization menu → Phone → Registration.

Phone settings with the Registration panel selected

  • Goliath charges nothing extra to file the texting registration, and the carrier fees are on us. It needs an active plan that includes texting. A campaign registered in your own connected Twilio account is billed by Twilio.
  • Every new registration needs the business’s EIN, a sole proprietorship included: we do not file one without it. An EIN is free from the IRS online in a few minutes at irs.gov/ein.
  • The form takes the business’s legal name, business email, EIN, business type and address, and one authorized representative’s name, position, email and cell phone. The legal name and EIN must match the IRS EIN letter exactly.
  • Approval usually takes 3 to 7 days after it is submitted. Calls and email work in the meantime.
  1. Open the organization menu → Phone → Registration.
  2. Review the Texting registration card and select Start Registration when it is available. If a registration has failed, use the retry action shown there.
  3. Complete the registration form, which opens as a dialog over the panel, and submit it.
  4. Return to the Registration panel to monitor the status.

When a managed registration is Not Started, the panel offers both Start Registration and Start calling now. The first opens the registration form; the second opens the phone-number flow without submitting a carrier registration.

The registration form only opens when the managed registration is eligible to start or retry. If it sends you back to the Registration panel, the panel explains the active state or shows the alternative next step.

The Registration panel is the authoritative status surface. Its Texting registration card can show a managed registration in progress, approved, failed, or closed, and it surfaces the action that the current state allows. A rejected campaign purpose that can be corrected has its own update-and-resubmit flow from the registration status surface.

Goliath supports one managed texting campaign for the organization’s registered brand; the former purpose-registration screen is retired. Do not rely on old /settings/phone/register/purpose bookmarks. They return to the Registration panel.

Do not complete Goliath’s managed registration form for an account that sends through its own Twilio credentials. Instead, connect the account and select its campaign through Bring your own Twilio account.

Registration does not replace consent practices or recipient opt-out handling. Send only messages you are permitted to send, make the sender clear, and honor opt-outs. Goliath can prevent a suppressed recipient from being selected in the text composer.
