Use Custom Fields on Contacts
Custom fields live on contact records
Section titled “Custom fields live on contact records”Open a contact from Contacts to see its Custom Fields card. The field definitions are shared across your organization, while the values belong to the contact you are viewing. The card can hide empty fields until you choose to reveal them.
Update a contact’s field values
Section titled “Update a contact’s field values”- Open the contact record.
- Find Custom Fields.
- Reveal more or empty fields when the value you need is not currently visible.
- Enter or select the value for that contact.
- Let the inline update finish saving before moving to another contact.
Updating a value on one contact does not fill that value on other contacts.
Create or change a field definition
Section titled “Create or change a field definition”From the Contacts list, select Manage, then choose All Fields. This opens the organization-wide manager, where you can review the current field definitions and select Add field to create another one.

Enter a required Field Name, choose a field type, add an optional description, and select Create Field. The current field types are Text, Number, Date, Dropdown, Multi-select, Currency, and Link. Stop before Create Field if you only want to review the configuration.

Open an existing field from All Fields when you need to edit its definition. Do not use Settings → Custom Fields in instructions or bookmarks; the field manager now lives in Contacts.
Use fields with other contact work
Section titled “Use fields with other contact work”Custom fields can be displayed as contact-table columns and used by the Contacts filter builder. For an organization-wide update to a configured dropdown field, select contacts and use More → Change field; that bulk picker only presents dropdown custom fields with configured options.
